I have a fabulous view of Magazaki Beach from my balcony. A true stunner, but you basically have to repelle down the cliff to get there. It is vertical.

It has been many years since I went down to this beach, the slope used to be home to a great big herd of goats that pooped everywhere. Resulting in flies galore. Just ICK. The goats moved on years ago, so I decided to give Magazaki another look.
The trail to the beach it located on the Kylindra road through an unmarked wooden gate. It is a steep gravel trail covered in switchbacks! Groan!
Actually the trail was gravel and shards of pottery. The path originates very close to the excavation of Kylindra’s infant cemetery. I am wwilling to bet that it crosses a potion of the cemetery that is not excavated.
Lots and lots of pottery bits. Amphora handles, bases, incised rims, painted frags all just lying about on the surface, with people just tromping over them. Yikes!

The terrain gets rockier as we get close to the sea, but the water is dazzling. We keep going, but gingerly
Then I am faced with a formidable obstacle. A rusty goat fence blocking a trail that is literally the cliff edge. I decide to go no further.

I retreat towards the rocky section and pick my way over the rocks like a crab. I launch myself into the sea, shoes and all. They were great in the sea! Who knew?

Bit of a swim then we retraced our steps back up to the road. The was was amazingly clear. I just had to avoid bashing myself on the rocks.
